Cam-Type Hole Shearing vs Traditional Shearing: Why Higher Precision and Lower Noise?

Patented Technology · 2026

Surui's core technology is the cam-type hole shearing structure (National Patent CN223114072U). How does it differ fundamentally from traditional shearing?

1. Problems with Traditional Shearing

Traditional wire cutting machines mostly use single-blade direct cutting or flying shear:

  • Single-blade direct cutting: blade presses down vertically; wire deforms under shear stress and the end face is uneven
  • Flying shear: rotary blade cuts at high speed — fast but mediocre cut quality and noisy

Common issues:

  • Burrs and slanted end faces
  • High vibration and noise at high speed
  • Fast blade wear

2. Principle of Cam-Type Hole Shearing

Surui's patented technology uses dual-cam coordinated action:

  1. Main cutting cam: drives the blade along a precise path into the "hole-aligned" position
  2. Auxiliary ejector cam: holds the wire simultaneously to prevent displacement
  3. Hole shearing: the blade precisely mates with the fixed die hole, forming a "scissor" cut

Key point: the clearance between blade and die hole is minimal and constant — the wire is sheared, not crushed.

3. Three Major Advantages

1. Higher Precision

End faceBurrs / slantedSmooth, burr-free
Length accuracy±0.1 mm±0.03 mm
PerpendicularityDeviationHigh

Because the wire is sheared rather than crushed, there is no plastic deformation — hence smooth ends and precise lengths.

2. Higher Speed

The cam mechanism reciprocates at high speed; combined with servo feeding it achieves up to 560 pcs/min continuous production.

3. Lower Noise

Hole shearing is progressive shearing, unlike the instantaneous impact of flying shear:

  • Less vibration
  • Lower noise (about 10-15 dB lower than flying shear)
  • Longer blade life
